Our IEEE Family

The IEEE Computer Society is the premier source for information, inspiration, and collaboration in computer science and engineering. Connecting members worldwide, the Computer Society empowers the people who advance technology by delivering tools for individuals at all stages of their professional careers.

A first of its kind developer conference organised by the MEC developer community. With myriads of events like overnight Dev Sprint Hackathon, technical workshops and interactive sessions with the other tech enthusiasts made the event engaging and informative! The event had two Workshops conducted in parallel on the topics Building Recommendation Engines and Memory Forensics.

The event was organised with the motive of igniting a formal introduction of IEEE Xtreme and a community participation building session for competitive coding under the banner of ‘XtreMEC’, a Practice Community for MECians. It consisted of a short session on the importance of participating in coding competitions and the career advances one can make in the field of technology by knowing the basics of the same.

Following the legacy of earlier two editions of Empneo, Empneo 3.0 was successful enough in achieving greater heights under the tagline - illuminating possibilities. The event witnessed talks, workshops and an industrial visit, all wrapped in a layer of fun and excitement. EMPNEO 3.0 saw incredible participation, with over a hundred students participating from schools across the state. The theme was “Spark”, and every niche and corner of the event was planned accordingly.

As a pre event to the two-day science camp Empneo 3.0, the student branch also organised a technical quiz called Alchemy. The quiz was conducted across two rounds, the Preliminary and the Final. The top 6 teams to qualify the prelims moved on to the Finals, where finally, Gregorian Public School emerged winners, followed by Bhavans Elamakkara and Bhavans Adarsha as runners-up. The quiz focussed on the participants’ scientific understanding and technical Knowledge.

Talks#MEC is a talk series for the students and by the students to share their love for innovation. In an age where peer-to-peer learning turns out to be the best method to effectively reciprocate novel ideas and knowledge amongst the circle, this series is an initiative by the Computer Society of MEC SB to encourage collaborative learning and foster one's interest in technical talks.
